The 6th Annual Shelter Walk supporting housing and life skills education for local homeless youth will take place on Saturday, October 17th in the heart of downtown St. Johnsbury. This 3-mile fundraising walk has something for the whole family and kicks off from the North Congregational Church on Main Street at 10:30 am.
Enjoy the fresh air with friends and neighbors and then join us for the After Walk Barbeque, entertainment and Awards Ceremony! Family-friendly activities and a live radio broadcast make this event one you won't want to miss!
There are many ways to participate. Get a team of walkers together (co-workers, classmates, friends and family) and have a good time raising funds for this worthy cause. Sponsor a team of walkers to support homeless youth in your area.
Walker registration forms and raffle tickets available now at NEK Youth Services office at 24 Bagley Street in St. Johnsbury. Call 802-748-8732 now for more information on how you can contribute!

on Monday 09 February 2009 - 19:30:50 | by Melissa CalkinsThe 5th Annual JUMP Jazz Jubilee was held at the St. Johnsbury Country Club, Saturday May 2nd and was an overwhelming success. Thanks to the generosity of the many friends of NEKYS (our donors, sponsors and attendees) we were able to raise just under $17,000.00 for the JUMP Mentoring Program.
The night began with a spectacular display of hors d'oeuvres and pastries from many area chefs and a chance to socialize with friends and neighbors. Everyone busied themselve writing down their bids for the silent auction. There were over 80 silent auction items from dazzling local art to gift certificates, books and even a cord of wood. Then our heads and tail game began followed by the live auction. Bidding was strong on the new age Adirondack Chairs from Farm-Way as well as the overnight for two at the Trapp Family Lodge, complete with 3 course gourmet dinner and country breakfast.
Our 50/50 raffle yielded the winner over $400.00.
A good time was had by all and as people left there was talk about looking forward to the event next year.

This gala event benefits the Northeast Kingdom Youth Services JUMP Mentoring Program. Since it's inception in 2002, JUMP has matched 117 youth with caring, adult mentors and has partnered with 9 area schools to provide a safe mentoring environment for each participant.
Currently there are 41 youth in the program and your participation in this event allows us to sustain these relationships and further expand our program to accommodate those on the waiting list at each school.
All proceeds go toward providing caring, adult mentors to students in area schools.
